Local Sustainable Transport Fund 2012-2015
In January 2011 the Department of Transport (DfT) released the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF), which is a funding stream of £560m to be spent over 4 years. Merseyside has been successful in securing almost £25million of this.
The aim of the Local Sustainable Transport Fund is to help build strong local economies and address the urgent challenges of climate change. It reflects the Government's core objectives of supporting economic growth by improving the links that move goods and people and meeting its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Merseyside will use its funding to develop schemes that will help individuals to travel to employment and improve access to employment sites, which will support economic regeneration in Merseyside.
The funding is a real boost in the campaign to encourage people across Merseyside to leave their cars at home and switch to sustainable travel and will enable employers to work with their staff to help them make healthy, green and cost efficient travel choices. You can read the summary brochure
to find out how our sustainable transport schemes will benefit the people of Merseyside.
To ensure that our LSTF funded projects meet our stated outcomes we have developed Outcome Monitoring Plans (links below) which set out how we will monitor the longer term outcomes associated with our project delivery. Interim Outcome Reports on progress toward final outcomes will be published annually from September 2014 with a final Programme wide evaluation in September of 2016.
