Bus Stations and Bus Stops

Bus Stations
As part of its commitment to encourage greater use of the bus network, Merseytravel has invested heavily in bus stations. For people who have mobility difficulties, bus stations are an excellent place to start or finish a journey.

Key facilities may include:

  • Fully accessible toilets at all bus stations;
  • Parent and baby facilities at some bus stations;
  • Lighting and Closed Circuit TV for personal security;
  • Fully trained staff;
  • Electronic timetable information;
  • OMIT;
  • Tactile paving for blind and partially sighted passengers;
  • Travel Centres.

Precise details of facilities at each bus station are given in the bus stations section later in the guide.

Bus Stops
Merseytravel is committed to improving passenger facilities at bus stops throughout Merseyside.
The new facilities will include:

  • Where possible shelters to give protection from the weather;
  • Good lighting to increase personal security;
  • Seating;
  • Bus timetable information;
  • Raised kerbs to ease access on and off buses;
  • Enhanced bus stop marking and clear way orders to enable buses to fully access the stops and prevent unauthorised parking;

These improvements which are part of an ongoing programme will make bus stops safer, more convenient and more comfortable for all passengers, particularly those who are older or more vulnerable.
