Concessionary Travel

Merseytravel continues its commitment to the Concessionary Travel Scheme for the benefit of customers and enhancing the attractiveness of public transport.

Passes for Older People
You will be eligible for an Older Person's Travel Pass if:

a) you are aged 60 or over,

and your permanent address is within Merseyside.

The travel pass allows you to travel free of charge on buses, trains and ferries in Merseyside at the following times:

Mondays - Fridays: Anytime except journeys starting between 6.31am and 9.29am. Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays: Anytime.

Passes for People with a Disability
If you are eligible, the travel pass will allow you to travel free of charge on buses, trains and ferries within Merseyside at any time of day. To obtain a pass you must be eligible in one of the groups below. Please note: in all groups your permanent address must be within Merseyside.

Group A: you may be eligible for a Disabled Person's Travel Pass if you are registered blind or partially sighted.

Group B: you may be eligible for a Disabled Person's Travel Pass if you are registered as profoundly or severely deaf

Group C: you may be eligible for a Disabled Person's Travel Pass if you are without speech

Group D: you may be eligible for a Disabled Person's Travel Pass if you have a disability or injury which has a substantial and adverse effect on ability to walk

Group E: you may be eligible for a Disabled Person's Travel Pass if you have lost the use of both arms or you are without arms

Group F: you may be eligible for a Disabled Person's Travel Pass if you have a learning disability

Group G: you may be eligible for a Disabled Persons Travel Pass if you would be refused a licence to drive a motor vehicle on the grounds of:

a) Epilepsy (unless it is of a type which does not pose a danger were you to drive)

OR

b) Liable to sudden attacks of giddiness or fainting

OR

c) Established dementia conditions (including Alzheimer's)

OR

d) Severe mental disorder

Policies
  1. Merseytravel will maintain a concessionary travel scheme for older people and disabled people. We will endeavour to ensure that this meets, and exceeds any nationally applicable minimum standards for concessionary travel.
  2. The concessionary travel scheme will continue to cover travel on all forms of public transport within Merseyside.
  3. Merseytravel will regularly review the concessionary pass issuing process. This will ensure that the process is as convenient and accessible as possible.
