Quality Management Systems

As Merseytravel makes progress with our vision to be a world class organisation, we are changing our approach to Management Systems and more specifically, we are improving our approach to Quality Management throughout the whole organisation.

The Merseyside Integrated Transport Authority and Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive approved the implementation of ISO9001:2008 Quality Management processes into our organisation which will result in a continual improvement in everything we do. The approved Quality Policy is attached.

The organisation received the ISO9001:2008 accreditation in January 2011 for the provision and operation of transport infrastructure, passenger transport information and customer services. This means the organisation will be regularly assessed over the next 3 years to ensure we continually meet the standards set.

However, accreditations show that it is not just about the plaque or the badge but by implementing a framework across the organisation, we can make a real difference in the manner in which we deliver our services.

ISO9001:2008 accreditation clearly demonstrates that Merseytravel is a forward thinking organisation which continues to improve and evolve.

The internationally recognised standard and framework will help us improve the way we deliver our services both internally and externally.

The objectives for pursuing ISO9001:2008 accreditation are:–

  • Ensure that the customer is at the forefront of everything we do with a measurable increase in customer satisfaction levels;
  • Improved levels of performance and consistency across the whole organisation;
  • Improved efficiency including where appropriate a reduction in costs; and
  • Improved communications and engagement of staff.
