Taxi and Private Hire Drivers

Taxi rankMerseylearn work closely with all five taxi Licensing Authorities on Merseyside, supporting new and existing drivers to get the qualifications they need to become a qualified driver.
Although we don’t run courses ourselves, we keep an up to date list of all the local providers and the licensing conditions for each authority.

Health and Wellbeing

Driving a taxi or private hire vehicle is a much more difficult job than most people realise.
Merseylearn can support the skills needed to drive the cab and work with customers through the qualifications, but there’s also the physical and mental pressures of the job to take into consideration.
In Merseyside, there’s an estimated 13,000 hackney and private hire drivers, but because they’re self employed and usually work unsocial hours,  there can a wide range of different problems which affect their mental and physical health.  Merseylearn are working with a range of partners to support drivers.
