There will be rail replacement bus services from Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Victoria due to the closure of Liverpool Lime Street Station.

Replacement bus services will also operate between Liverpool Lime Street and Newton-le-Willows.

A train service will operate but only between Earlestown and Wilmslow via Manchester and Manchester Airport.

Customers for Manchester Airport are advised to change at Manchester Victoria. This may also require a change at Manchester Piccadilly.

What's happening?

On Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November Liverpool Lime Street mainline station and Edge Hill station will be closed for signalling upgrade works.

Other stations en route to/from Lime St and Edge Hill to Huyton and Hunts Cross will also be affected by the works.

What does this mean for me?

If you are using Lime Street station low level for Merseyrail services, you will be unaffected by the closure.

If you are intending to travel to/from Liverpool Lime St mainline station, Edge Hill, Mossley Hill, West Allerton, Roby, Broad Green or Wavertree Tech you will still be able to get to where you want to go either by rail replacement bus or, for services that stop at Liverpool South Parkway, by using the Merseyrail network to/from Liverpool city centre.

You can find out what is being put in place for your journey here. Or check with you train operator.

Commercial bus services may also be an option. You can use our Journey Planner to find out your options.

Please note that the River of Light Festival on Sunday 3 November will mean some road closures and diversions to bus services in the city centre.

Key advice:

  • Plan ahead and check before you travel
  • Allow extra time for your journeys if you are affected by the Lime Street and Edge Hill closures and are travelling on Sunday 3 November to/from:-

- Goodison Park for Everton's game against Spurs
- Liverpool City Centre/New Brighton for the River of Light festival

  • Do stick to public transport or walk and cycle if you're travelling to, from or via Liverpool City Centre. The works to dismantle the Churchill Way Flyovers until December 2019 will cause significant disruption to road users with the potential knock on impacts across the wider city centre. You can find out more about the programme, road closures and pedestrian routes via Liverpool City Council's website.
