  • The new ferry will combine comfort, functionality and striking design
  • Dedicated event spaces for conferences and private celebrations

The stylish interior of the Royal Daffodil is revealed for the first time this week, promising a premium experience for Mersey Ferry passengers.

A first glimpse inside the Royal Daffodil showcases a sophisticated, contemporary lounge on the Main Deck at the back of the ferry, designed as a versatile function space available for private hire. There is also a sneak peak of the state-of-the-art bridge and decking area.

The preview marks the official handover of the ferry from Wirral-based shipbuilder APCL Cammell Laird to the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority representing an important landmark in the delivery of the first new Mersey ferry in over 60 years.

The new ferry, due to set sail later this year, will combine comfort, functionality and striking design, showcasing a fresh look that supports Liverpool City Region’s growing visitor economy and strengthens its appeal as a must-visit destination.

“This is a proud moment for our region and a big step forward for our public transport network.

“Just like our new publicly owned trains and modern bus fleet, this new ferry sits alongside the very best of our transport investments. We want people to step aboard and be genuinely wowed from the moment they arrive.

“This is just a first glimpse of what’s to come, our team will now be working hard behind the scenes to make sure everything is in ship-shape for passengers to experience the full reveal when she takes to the water later this year- watch this space!”

The new ferry will offer a world-class experience, featuring spacious open-plan decks, new seating areas, and vibrant bars where passengers can relax and enjoy stunning views across the River Mersey.

The vessel has also been created with versatility in mind, with dedicated event spaces that transform the ferry into a unique venue for conferences, corporate functions, and private celebrations, offering an iconic setting on the waterfront.

Accessibility is also a top priority throughout the design. A fully accessible interior includes a dedicated lift providing easy access to the upper deck, ensuring all passengers can enjoy the ferry’s facilities and panoramic views.

Built by Cammell Laird as part of a £26 million investment in modernising the Mersey Ferries fleet, the new vessel represents a significant step forward in enhancing both everyday journeys and visitor experiences.

Over the coming months, there will be a programme of comprehensive captain and crew training, ahead of its launch later this year.
