You can buy bundles for one, three or five days and use them whenever you need them - for when you need to be flexible with your travel. Or choose a ticket for one week, four weeks, a term or a year if your journeys are more regular.

Where can I use it?
Solo tickets are valid across Merseyside. If your journey crosses the Merseyside boundary into Cheshire, Halton, Greater Manchester or Lancashire you must pay the extra fare from the boundary.
When can I use it?
If you buy a ticket online, it will be available 24/36 hours after you buy it.
If you buy it on the bus, at a Merseytravel Centre or PayPoint retailer, your ticket will be available immediately.
One Day
Use it anytime on the day that you buy it.
Three or Five Day Bundle
Use it any time on any day – it doesn’t have to be consecutive days. You must first use your ticket within 28 days from the date you buy it.
Weekly
Use it any time on any day for one week. You must first use your ticket within 28 days from the date you buy it. Your ticket activates on the day you first use it.
4-Weekly
Use it any time on any day for 4 weeks. You must first use your ticket within 28 days from the date you buy it. Your ticket activates on the day you first use it.
Term Time
Monday to Friday during term time only, including half term.
Annual
Anytime, any day and starts on the day you buy it.

I don’t currently have a MetroCard - how do I get one?
You can buy a MetroCard and your first ticket at any PayPoint retailer, Merseytravel Centre, on board an Arriva or Stagecoach bus or at any rail station across the region. There is a £1 activation charge when you buy your new MetroCard. This fee is to cover the card production and distribution costs. You will then be able to register your MetroCard and buy tickets online.
My card is not working on board the bus.
Please make sure that you have a valid ticket for the day and area of travel loaded on to your MetroCard or Walrus. Your receipt should show this information, or if you have bought it online you can check this in the “My Tickets” section. You can also check the status of your ticket here to make sure that it has not expired. In the unlikely event that your card doesn’t read but you believe that it is valid, please visit a Merseytravel Centre. Keep your receipt or email confirmation as proof of purchase.

I have looked at the Term Time Ticket and the dates don’t meet my needs - what should I do?
Term Time Ticket dates are agreed with all Local Education Authorities across Merseyside. If the ticket is not suitable for your travel needs please visit the Merseytravel Website to see the other options available. Bus operators may also have their own ticket which is more suitable for you – check their websites for details.
How do I buy my first Smart Solo Term Time Ticket?
Firstly, you will need to register your smartcard, if you haven’t got a smartcard, you can buy one from any Merseytravel Centre, PayPoint retailer or Merseyrail station. Click on "Buy Tickets" and select the ticket that best meets your needs. Proceed to "Secure Checkout" to pay by debit or credit card. Once the term ends please keep hold of your MetroCard, you can then renew your Term Time Ticket online later in the year.

Are there any restrictions in place when using a Solo Term Time Ticket?
Tickets are valid Monday to Friday on term time dates only, including half term, but tickets cannot be used at weekends.
What if I lose my smart Solo Term Time Ticket or it is stolen?
Send an email to [email protected]. Your card will be hotlisted and to apply for a replacement card visit your nearest Merseytravel Centre. You will need to pay £1 for a new card.
I no longer need my ticket can I have a refund ?
Complete a ticket surrender form online, attach your MetroCard and post this to Merseytravel, PO Box 1976, Liverpool, L69 3HN or submit it in person to your nearest Merseytravel Centre. Your ticket will be checked and the refund calculated. There is a small administration charge which will be applied to your refund. Refunds will be made direct to your nominated bank account. We are unable to issue cash or cheque refunds.
Is my Term Time Ticket valid across all areas of Merseyside?
Yes, you can use your Solo Term Time Ticket within the Merseyside area, but your ticket won’t be valid for travel in Lancashire, Cheshire or Halton
My ticket is not scanning on the bus what should I do?
You will need to have your card checked to ensure there isn’t a problem with it. If your card is reading on other buses there may be an issue with the bus driver’s ticket machine. Please visit a Merseytravel Centre where a member of staff will check and, if your card is found to be faulty, replace your card for free. If your card has been damaged, a replacement fee may be applied.
I bought my Solo Term Time Ticket online and it looks like my payment has been taken twice, how can I get a refund?

- Ticket reference order number
- Date/time of the transaction
- Amount of transaction
- Last four digits of the card used to pay
- Card holder’s name
If we find your payment has been duplicated, we will refund any overpayment back on to your debit or credit card.

Apprentice Travel
If you are an apprentice aged between 19 and 24 you may be eligible for half price bus travel. If you are an apprentice aged up to 18 you already receive half price travel.
