Tickets and passes on publicly run bus services

From 6 September 2026, the way bus tickets and passes work on services operating within and from St Helens will change.

Operator-only tickets and passes, including Arriva tickets and passes, will no longer be available on the new publicly run services.

To support everyone as they take their first journeys on our new publicly run network, we’re giving passengers holding existing Arriva passes extra time to use them:

  • Arriva daily passes will still be accepted until 7 September.
  • Weekly passes accepted until 13 September.
  • Monthly / annual passes accepted until 5 October.

Multi-operator tickets and passes, including SOLO, will still be available in St Helens and these tickets can be used on all buses right across the network. We’ll also be adding new flexible ticket options in St Helens only while we move towards the new way of running bus services across our region.

  • Daily Adult Tickets (priced at £5.70) and Weekly Adult Tickets (priced at £22.50) will be available to purchase on the bus.
  • Weekly Young Persons Tickets (priced at £11.00) will also be available to purchase on bus.
  • The £2 adult single fare will remain in place.
  • The MyTicket, which gives young people under the age of 19 unlimited bus travel for a day, will also remain available (priced at £2.20).

Merseytravel over-60s concessionary travel passes, as well as national concessionary bus passes, will continue to be accepted on bus services in the region as they always have.

Once the full network has been brought back into public control in Autumn 2027, fare capped tap-and-go ticketing – which will mean passengers always pay the best fare for their journeys – will be rolled out.

Our full range of tickets and passes, which give access to the bus network across the region, are all available from the usual locations including Travel Centres. More information is available here.
