Queensway Mersey Tunnel Full Closure (All Lanes)
The Queensway (Birkenhead) Mersey Tunnel will be closed to all traffic in both directions at the following times for the Liverpool to Chester Charity Bike Ride 2026
- From 0500 until 1630 Sunday 5 July
The Kingsway (Wallasey) Mersey Tunnel will be open. Please allow additional time to complete your journey.
Planned changes and overnight works to Queensway (Birkenhead) Mersey Tunnel
The Queensway (Birkenhead) Mersey Tunnel will be closed whilst we undertake essential maintenance work during the following times:
- From 2100 Monday 29 June until 0630 Tuesday 30 June
- From 2100 Tuesday 30 June until 0630 Wednesday 1 July
- From 2100 Wednesday 1 July until 0630 Thursday 2 July
- From 2100 Thursday 2 July until 0630 Friday 3 July

The Kingsway (Wallasey) Mersey Tunnel will be subject to contraflow whilst we undertake essential maintenance work. One lane will be open in either direction during the following times:
