All day closures will be in place on Church Road and Ormskirk Road, on Saturday 20 June 2026 to facilitate Rainford Walking Day.
Bus diversions are as follows:
Service 37
- From St Helens will travel as normal to Rainford By-Pass, then at Mill Lane intersection return via Rainford By-Pass and terminate at the stop on Rainford By-Pass, near Mill Lane.
- From Rainford By-Pass will commence at the stop near Mill Lane, then as normal route to St Helens (omitting a section of Rainford By-Pass, Pasture Lane, Church Road, Cross Pit Lane, Higher Lane, Old Lane, Ormskirk Road, Church Road, Pasture Lane, and a section of Rainford By-Pass).
Service 38
- From St Helens will travel as normal to Church Road, then via Rookery Lane, Higher Lane to Hydes Brow, then as normal route via News Lane to Bushey Lane and terminate at the stop opposite Ormskirk Road.
- From Rainford will commence at the stop on Bushey Lane, near Ormskirk Road, then travel via Bushey Lane, News Lane, Hydes Brow, Higher Lane, Rookery Lane to Church Road, then as normal route to St Helens (omitting a section of Church Road, Ormskirk Road, Old Lane, Rainford Road, Ormskirk Road and a section of Church Road).
Service 38A (if required)
- From St Helens will travel as normal to Higher Lane, then continue via Higher Lane, Hydes Brow, News Lane to Bushey Lane and terminate at the stop opposite Ormskirk Road.
- From Rainford will commence at the stop on Bushey Lane, near Ormskirk Road, then travel via Bushey Lane, News Lane, Hydes Brow to Higher Lane, then as normal route to St Helens (omitting a section of Rainford Road, Ormskirk Road and Cross Pit Lane).
Service 152
- From St Helens will travel as normal to Higher Lane, then continue via Higher Lane, Hydes Brow, News Lane, Bushey Lane to Lodge Lane, then as normal route to Southport (omitting Cross Pit Lane, Ormskirk Road and Rainford Road).
- From Southport will travel as normal to Lodge Lane, then via Bushey Lane, News Lane, Hydes Brow to Higher Lane, then as normal route to St Helens (omitting a section of Rainford Road, Ormskirk Road and Cross Pit Lane).
Service 157
- From Ashton will travel as normal to Crank Hill, then via Higher Lane, Hydes Brow, News Lane to Bushey Lane, then at the roundabout return via Bushey Lane and News Lane to Rainford Station (omitting Rookery Lane, Derby Drive, Festival Road, Holly Crescent, Southerns Lane, Church Road, Ormskirk Road and Rainford Road).
- From Rainford Station will travel via News Lane, Hydes Brow to Higher Lane, then continue via Higher Lane to Ashton (omitting Cross Pit Lane, Church Road, Southerns Lane, Holly Crescent, Festival Road, Derby Drive and Rookery Lane).
Service 312
- From Ormskirk will travel as normal via Skelmersdale to Reeds Brow, then via News Lane to Bushey Lane and terminate at the stop opposite Ormskirk Road (omitting Hydes Brow and Higher Lane).
- From Rainford will commence at the stop on Bushey Lane, near Ormskirk Road, then travel via Bushey Lane, News Lane to Reeds Brow, then as normal route to Ormskirk via Skelmersdale (omitting Higher Lane, Rookery Lane, Church Road, Ormskirk Road, Old Lane, and Hydes Brow).
