Wavertree Road will be closed, between Irvine Street and Durning Road, from Thursday 2 July 2026 for approximately 2 days, between 0800 and 1700 each day.
Bus diversions are as follows:
Services 61,78 and 79C
- From Halton Hospital, Halewood and Murdishaw will travel as normal to Wavertree Road, then via Durning Road, Edge Lane, North View to Mount Vernon Road, then as normal routes to City Centre, Queen Square Bus Station (omitting a section of Wavertree Road and Irvine Street).
These services will call at Edge Hill Interchange, Wavertree Road, near Wavertree Retail Park, Stop C; and Royal Liverpool University Hospital, West Derby Street, near Crown Street, Stop B. - From City Centre, Queen Square One Bus Station will travel as normal to Mount Vernon Road, then via North View, Edge Lane, Durning Road to Wavertree Road, then as normal routes to Halton Hospital, Halewood and Murdishaw (omitting Irvine Street and a section of Wavertree Road).
These services will call at Royal Liverpool University Hospital, West Derby Street, opposite Crown Street, Stop C; and Edge Hill Interchange, Wavertree Road, near Botanic Road, Stop D.
Service 79
- From Halewood will travel as normal to Wavertree Road, then via Durning Road, Edge Lane, North View to Mount Vernon Road, then as normal route to City Centre, Liverpool ONE Bus Station (omitting a section of Wavertree Road and Irvine Street).
This service will call at Edge Hill Interchange, Wavertree Road, near Wavertree Retail Park, Stop C; and Brownlow Hill, near Peach Street. - From City Centre, Liverpool One Bus Station will travel as normal to Mount Vernon Road, then via North View, Edge Lane, Durning Road to Wavertree Road, then as normal route Halewood (omitting Irvine Street and a section of Wavertree Road).
This service will call at Brownlow Hill, near Crown Street; and Edge Hill Interchange, Wavertree Road, near Botanic Road, Stop D.
